Yo I’m Talk’en here. ( Musical Theatre= Bugsy Melone)

Bimbo: refers to a macho man. ‘Ghee Dandy Dans Gang is full of Bimbos.’

“Now you’re on the trolley!”: “Now you’ve gotten it right!” : What Fat Sam wants to say to his gang.

Dumb Dora: an unintelligent woman. :There are some Dumb Dora’s out there.

Cash: a smooch. : Tallulah always wants a cash with Bugsy.

Manacle: Wedding ring . : What every girl wants

Wurp: wet blanket or person seen as a buzzkill (see: Debbie Downer): ‘ Jezz Tom stop being a wurp.’

My name is Melone. Bugsy Melone ( A.K.A Musical Theatre= Busy Malone)

Musical Theatre

The year 9-10 have doth been blessed with have another chance of being in the year 7-8 passion projects ( it was called The Arts Kete but it’s changed). At all my years of doing this topic I alway choose Musical Theatre and I’m thankful for that. So this year I chose Musical Theatre again and the Musical we are doing is Bugsy Melone that was set in the 1920’s.

Back Story: Bugsy Melone was set in the 1920’s as a mafia type of setting were there are guns but in stead of buliets and guns it’s replaced with whipped cream and cannon guns. Characters are : Bugsy,Blousey,Tallulah , Fat Sam, Danny Dan , Louella , and more.

The Character I’m playing is the lead roll, Bugsy Melone. Bugsy is a 15 year old kid where he is stuck in the middle because his father is Irish and his mother is Italian so he can’t choose which culture to identify as. He is a very known to all the people in the town, he’s normally talks to fat Sam, Tallulah and now a new person in his life named Blousey. He is a smooth talker and a nice guy in general.

How to channel that character: You got to have like a New York type of accent, smooth guy, look like a gentleman, be nice and respectful.

  • Grab the glue and sand, apply glue to the bottom of the box and lay out your sand and let it dry.
  • Create your little tinfoil man and glue his feet on the sand. Also create your little spaceship and glue that to the bottom. While your gluing stuff also create the flag and the poll and stick that down too.
  • You can decorate it more if you like.

If your boyfriend/Girlfriend told you to send nude pictures to them, and you know you don’t want to , and you know it’s wrong but you also don’t want him to think that you don’t love him anymore. How can you tell them in an assertive way? ( mind my pictures I type it at the bottom of this blog. And the weird photo angles)

Extension task : ( can’t spell on my sheet)
If they still pressure you to send them what do u say/ do and why?
.

Here is what I said to question one:
Question one:

  • I would say no then give them a reason. Here are the reasons and scenarios.
  • Someone else would text them: “Sorry no, because I don’t want to send nudes never, or not this age. I do love you don’t think I never did because I love you. Hopefully you understand.”
  • Someone else would talk to them face to face:  “ Sorry I can’t do that because I never want to send nudes at all because that’s not the type of person I am. Don’t think I don’t love you anymore because I love you with all my heart. Hopefully you will understand what I’m saying.”
  • Me in text: “ Sorry no, I’m not that type of person. I find it weird showing my body to someone if I’m not married/ not in a solid long relationship with them. I do love you deeply but I just don’t like doing those things. Hopefully you understand.”
  • Me Face to Face with them: ( what I said before)
Extension Question:

  • I would consider talking  to them more about it because they need to respect your decision because if they don’t then I think you should consider thinking about the relationship because trust, and understanding is one of the keys of a relationship.

Liver:
The way the nutrients go to the small intestines to the liver is that the nutrients get absorbed and transported to the liver via the hepatic portal vein. That nutrient is converted to either energy, transported to a working muscle or stored for use later. The green-coloured fluid is called Bile. The fluid is stored in the gallbladder. The bile is an alkaline fluid. The alkaline neutralises the acidic from the stomach to prevent it digesting the rest of the digestive system.

Facts:

If you want a liver replacement the closest thing is a pigs one
You can re-grow your liver
The ancient Greeks thought the liver was god in them.

Problem solving: Health

What did you learn about ?
I learnt … that there are some situation where you got to think of the positives and the negatives of it.

When discussing “Thought Challenges” what did you notice about yourself?
When I think I often react both Positive and Negative.
Here is an example of one situation I've been in

Challenging Thoughts
SCENARIO    / NEGATIVE    / THOUGHT CHALLENGER    / POSITIVE
My Friends making me cry/ I’ll just sit here and cry/ Will I let this thought control my life/ Nah I got better things to do instead of listening to them

What solutions can you try when you face a challenge during the Business & Enterprise kete?
Here is an example that I had in year 7

Step one ->You want to make pom pom balls and I want to make glow in the dark mini jars

Step two->We will just make another Idea -We can make both
P
Step three->Take a long time to come to an agreement -More time wasted doing two

Step four->We ended up making pom pom balls ( Because a certain staff member didn’t like my design)

Step Five->We will start the planning next time

English: Matrix for Myths, Legends, Fables and Tales : Updated

LO->Students will understand that traditional stories show aspect of different cultures.

In English, we are learning to understand and find the meaning of stories

My story I chose was The Monkey and the Turtle ( Which is a fable). There are different tasks to show your learning so these are some links of how I showed my learning with this story...

Slideshow
Static Image
Character Profile
Comic strip
Poster
Play

Haiku:

The monkey is mean,
He threw away all the greens,
The turtle is sad.

Monkey is hungry,
But the turtle is helping,
In the end it’s bad

Why do you think the author created this story? Mybye they wanted a diffrent storyline than the others
What is the purpose (reason) for writing this story? To teach a moral.
What is the author trying to explain? Don't steal other peoples stuff or you will be punished later on.
What did the characters learn? Don't do bad things or you will be punished.
How did the characters grow or change? Spoiler: One charter dies ( Got cut up) and the other drowns

Why did the characters act this way? Because the other one stole there fruit.

Why do you think the story came into existence? Because the author wanted moral and a different type of story.
What did you learn about the Philippines from reading the story? That you will be punished if you do a bad thing.
What do you think the purpose of this story is? For a diffrent type of story and a moral.
Why do you think this story is important to the people of the Philippines? Don't do bad thing because you will get punished later.

What could I do better?:
Make it pop with different colours instead of keeping it the same one every time. ( especially the background)

One thing I might change about this story is the ending it's too brutal. I would make the Monkey have karma until he dies of natural courses.

Food Test : Science

Testing for Simple Sugars- The Benedict's Test

Aim:
I want to find out how to test for simple sugars

Equipment:

  • Bunsen Bunner
  • Test tube tongs
  • Benedict's Solution
  • Food Sample
  • Test tubes
  • Safty Glasses
Method:
  1. Place about 2mL of the food sample into the test tube then add 5 drops of Benedict's Solution
  2. Gently heat the test tube over a blue flame. DO NOT BOIL!!
Result:
A positive test for a simple sugars results in the Benedict's Solution changing form a Blue colour to a Yellow colour to an Orange/Red colour.

Conclusion:
When you heated the chemicals it went the colours down of the rainbow starting from Blue and went down but normally it would stop at orange but if your lucky and it didn't expold you would get red.

Testing for Complex Sugars- The Iodine Test

Aim:
I want to find out if a simple of food contains complex sugars.

Equipment:

  • Test tube
  • Food Sample
  • Iodine Solution
Method:

  1. Place about 2mL of the sample in a test tube.
  2. Add 3-5 drops of iodine and mix.
Results:
If complex sugars (i.e starch) are present the iodine solution will change from a brown colour to a blue/black colour.

If the iodine solution does not change colour then no complex sugars are present.

Conclusion:
We used breed for this and indeed it had complex sugars because it turned black.

 Testing for Protein-The Biuret Test

Aim:
To test if a sample of food contains protien.

Equipment:
  • Test tube
  • Sodium hydroxide( NaOH)
  • Copper sulfate ( CuSO4
  • Food Sample
Method:
  1. Place about 2mL of the sample into a test tube and add 5 drops of sodium hydroxide.
  2. Add 5 drops of copper sulfate.
  3. Shake the test tube gently from side to side.
Results:
If the solution remains blue, then no protein is present. If the solution changes to a purple colour then protein is present in the sample.

Conclusion:
The liquids chances from to orange/Yellow to Green to Purple, but my group took its time and we got the formula out of place so we ended up using the teachers we got a video of it but it's not family friendly.

Maori Culture Prior to European: Maori Weaving ( Social Studies)

Social Studies Maori Culture Prior to European: Maori Weaving

( Can't really see it but I will add the information to it at the end of this post)

LO-> To understand the life of Maori prior to Europeans arriving and it's connection to today's society.

What was your research about? My topic is Maori Weaving

2 Things you found interesting? They have so many different names for it and that's it so far

2 Things you thought you did well?  The layout and the glueing

Something you want to do differently? Didn't have time to make it colourful.

Infomation from up top:
Types of weaving:

  • Tāniko – a technique used to decorate the borders of fine garments, as well as bird cages, bird traps, and eel baskets. Tāniko is similar to European twining. These days tāniko is used to make belts, purses, bodices, armbands, headbands, and bandoliers.
  • Arapaki or tukutuku – ornamental latticework, usually found adorning the walls of wharenui.
  • Piupiu – the art of making a flax garment worn around the waist.
  • Whatu – the weaving technique known as the ‘cloak weave’, used to produce fabric.
  • Whiri – various forms of plaiting used to make poi, waist girdles, and headbands.
  • Raranga – one of the weaving styles used to make kete (bags and baskets).

At first, Māori women used flax in the same way they had used the pandanus plant in Polynesia – weaving baskets, containers and mats from the leaves. They then learned to get the strong fibre (muka) from the leaves by scraping the green flesh away with a sharp shell. The muka was pounded until it was soft, then washed and sometimes dyed. Twisted, plaited and woven, it was used to create a wide range of items, such as fishing nets and traps, footwear, cords and ropes.

There are two different clothing for men and women using flax fibre, kiekie, silk thread, leather, and pāua shell

:maro (a piece of clothing covering worn around the waist for men) and a Bodice ( piece of clothing that covers the body)
